A ROAD in Tilehurst has been completely blocked after high winds caused a tree to fall.
A part of Little Heath Road has become impassable as the tree has fallen across the road and the path, blocking both cars and pedestrians.
Reading Buses has made temporary changes to Route 33 services, and cannot currently serve bus stops at Normanstead Road, Chapel Hill, Westwood Glen, Hallplace Farm, Birchwood Road, Little Heath School, Stratford Way, Bitterne Avenue, and Springfield Avenue.
Buses on the route are being diverted through Berkshire Drive, Park Lane, and City Road.
The Met Office has put an Amber weather warning in place until 8pm this evening (Tuesday, January 2), with a yellow warning for wind across the whole of southern England and Wales.
Its chief meteorologist Paul Gundersen, said: “Further wet and windy weather is forecast for the UK this week.
“Our latest analysis of the forecast shows an increase in the likelihood of very strong wind gusts across parts of southern Wales and England which is why we have issued this Amber warning this morning and named Storm Henk.”
The Environment Agency says while property flooding is not expected, river levels are high and with more rain forecast over the coming days, there is a risk that flooding will continue.
The River Thames is affected on its routes between Mapledurham to Sonning, including Mapledurham, Reading, Caversham, Playhatch, and Sonning.
The area affected also includes the Lower River Loddon at the River Thames confluence including Twyford, Charvil, and Wargrave.
