A VISUAL spectacle is set to return to the centre of Reading in February.

Reading Glow parade is back to illuminate the heart of the town with a festival of light, community, and celebration.

The Pantry is also staying open late so participants can enjoy hot drinks and treats after the parade.

The parade will be led by Beetroots, whose drumming will lead the procession through the streets.

This will be followed by a live music performance in the Town Hall square by the Lily Beck Band ensuring the evening is as vibrant as it is beautiful.

There is also a series the lantern-making workshops prior to the event, run by local arts organisation Jelly and Beautiful Creatures Theatre.

These sessions offer a wonderful opportunity for participants to craft their own beautiful hand-held lanterns to carry during the procession.

The return of the Glow Lantern Parade is supported by Reading BID, Beautiful Creatures and Jelly.

Alexa Volker, Reading Business Improvement Districts Manager at REDA, commented: “The Glow Lantern Parade is a highlight of our cultural calendar and hosting it on Valentine’s Saturday adds an extra layer of charm to the town.

“This event isn’t just a beautiful spectacle; it’s a celebration of Reading’s creative spirit and a boost for our local business community.

“We invite everyone to stay after the parade and enjoy everything our town centre has to offer.”

Danielle Corbishley, at Beautiful Creatures, said: “Valentine’s Day is about connection, and there is no better way to celebrate that than by joining your community for the Glow Lantern Parade.

“Whether it’s a first date, a family tradition, or a night out with friends, we invite everyone to share in this spectacular display of light and love in the heart of Reading.”

Reading Glow Parade takes place at Broad Street Mall from 5.30pm on Saturday, February 14.
