NATURE lovers are being invited to take part in a guided walk down the Kennet and Avon Canal.
The waterway runs through the heart of Reading and the tour will help visitors understand the major role it has played in the development of the town.
The Walk Reading event will explain when and why the canal was built, its rise, decline and subsequent rise, and Amelia Dyer’s connection to it and her infamous deeds which led to her execution at Newgate Prison.
Starting from County Lock, Rear of The Anchorage, the tour lasts approximately one and a half hours and involves around two miles of walking. It finishes at Caversham Lock.
The walk takes place at 7pm on July 25. Tickets are £9 and can be purchased online.
