Berkshire Vision provides vital practical and friendly support, sport and activities to visually impaired children and adults, and their families in Berkshire.
They currently want more Volunteer Telephone Befrienders to join them.
As a telephone befriender, you will be matched with a Berkshire Vision Member for a weekly phone call.
The aim of the phone call is to provide a friendly chat. It’s not counselling or advice but friendly conversation.
Most calls last around 30 minutes. You will ask the member about their week, and prompt conversation topics when necessary.
After the call, you fill out an online form to let them know that you spoke to the Member and highlight if anything had come up that staff need to be aware of.
Home-Start Reading is a small local charity working across Reading to support families with young children through challenging times.
They are looking to recruit new trustees who are willing and able to take an active role in the running of the charity, with a range of skills and experience: ranging from fundraising to IT, Legal to HR.
You’ll be working together with a committed group of people to support a charity that makes a real difference to local families and has been doing so for the past 40 years.
You’ll be attending a trustees meeting for two hours every other month, your choice how much time you give beyond that.
Formed in 2002 The Children’s Air Ambulance is a lifesaving transfer service for critically ill babies and children.
Right now, they need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service by having more people taking part in their planned bucket collections, and also help them to book in more regular local collections.
As a Volunteer Bucket Collector in Reading you would be supporting the fundraising team by joining them at their planned bucket collections at large events and approaching local businesses, such as supermarkets, to arrange and coordinate more bucket collections.
This role is very flexible; any time you can give helps them fund their life saving missions.
Take a look at our Reading Volunteer Connect platform for details of these and many more opportunities to volunteer via our website, www.rgneeds.me. Want to get in touch? Drop us an email at volunteering@rva.org.uk or call 0118 937 2273.
