THREE people were hospitalised and one has been arrested following an attempted murder in central Reading in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, August 10).
Three men, one of whom is in his late teens, suffered serious injuries which are thought to have been caused by a knife in an incident in St Mary’s Butts at around 3.25am.
All three were taken to hospital, where two remain undergoing treatment.
The man in his late teens has since been discharged.
A 34–year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remains in police custody.
A scene-watch is currently in place in St Mary’s Butts, and Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses.
Police believe there may be some witnesses with mobile phone footage and are also appealing for submission of any footage which would aid their investigation.
Detective Inspector Sally Russell said: “We know this attempted murder will cause concern but we are investigating it as a high priority, with one suspect currently in police custody.
“There is a large scene-watch in place in St Mary’s Butts so people will see an increased police presence in the area while officers and staff carry out enquiries. I understand people may have concerns but you are welcome to discuss these with any of our uniformed officers.

“We believe there may have been numerous witnesses to the incident, including those with mobile phone footage of it and/or the aftermath. So please send any footage or photos to us instead of sharing on social media. You can do so directly via this dedicated online portal.
