READING FC manager Ruben Selles provided fans with an update on the developing ownership situation and potential takeover at the club.
Current owner Dai Yongge is currently discussing the possibility of a sale of the club, with the club saying that several parties are interested.
Despite reports that a deal had been agreed last week, Reading released a statement to deny that any deal has been finalised and that discussions with several potential buyers is still ongoing.
“As much as I know, the communication of the club last Thursday, that’s the latest news,” said Selles.
“I have met some of the possible buyers during the last weeks to explain what we do on the pitch. I explained with them what I do and what I want to do with the team.
“As far as I know the position is still open and the communication from the club was very clear.
“Whether it is good or bad is not for me to judge.”
Selles explained that it has been a challenge for his players and staff to focus on the job on the pitch with the distraction of the ownership situation.
He continued: “When you meet people who want to buy the club, they are usually people who have been in business and have been successful.
“They are not going to buy the house without knowing exactly what they are buying so it’s obvious they want to know every detail of that.
“It’s a part of it (keeping the players focused). Not only for the players but the technical staff.
“Obviously the situation is not ideal, I will not deny that it is part of the job also.”
