FACE BAR is set to welcome some ‘cult heroes’ later this month, with The Polecats due to make an appearance at the venue.
The rockabilly outfit began in the late 1970s as The Cult Heroes, but after a line-up change the band was born under their well-known moniker.
Shortly after, they released their debut single, Rockabilly Guy, and were soon signed to major music label Phonogram.
After their debut album, Polecats are Go, in the early 80s, they followed up with a cover of David Bowie’s John, I’m Only Dancing, and original song Jeepster.
After a brief “lay off” between 1985 and 1988, The Polecats have continued to gig throughout the world playing regularly in Europe, Japan and the USA.
During the early 90’s they released two albums for Japanese label Vinyl Japan, “Won’t Die” and “Nine”, followed by the now rare White Devils, inspired by a name given to the band in Japan, which dropped in 1994.
Last year saw the release of their latest EP, Crepe Soul, on vinyl.
The Polecats are playing Face Bar on Sunday, April 26.
