Reading’s “newish” cinema and meeting space really deserves to succeed says its nominator for the Hospitality Award.
Reading Biscuit Factory, a three-screen cinema, bar, coffee shop, live performance space and community hub in Reading’s town centre, opened in July 2021.
Their nominator said: “They create a really welcoming, interesting space for meetings and customers. It’s a newish enterprise for Reading and one that really deserves to succeed – the natural successor to the late lamented RISC cafe.”
They aim to present a varied film programme, from the newest blockbusters to the latest independent films, as well as special one-off screenings and events.
They also offer versatile space for hire for events including their cinema screens.
The cinema’s name commemorates Reading’s heritage as ‘Biscuit Town’ where Huntley and Palmer’s became the town’s biggest employer and biggest supplier of biscuits worldwide by 1900.
The Hospitality Award, inspired by and in memory of former Reading Post journalist, food writer and Pride of Reading Awards organiser Hilary Scott, is sponsored by REDA, Reading’s Economic and Destination Agency.
