Charity of the Year, Sally Russell – The Cowshed Charity, sponsor Roc Search
A charity does “an amazing job helping the most needy families in the Reading area, often at personal cost both emotionally and financially,” said their nominator for the Charity of the Year award.
“Sally Russell is the founder and has grown a sizable charity from an acorn of an idea within years.
The Cowshed is a community-driven charity dedicated to providing support to individuals of all backgrounds during times of personal crisis. Their mission is to offer good quality, cleaned, and ironed clothes and other essential items free of charge to those in need.
Their nominator said: “There are so many personal stories to be shared of children arriving in Reading literally with nothing or experiencing a tragic turn of events in their family. The Cowshed have provided so many of their basic needs – curtains for windows, school uniforms for the kids, warm blankets for babies.
“They are doing an incredible job filling a gap that shouldn’t exist in society.”
The Charity of the Year award is sponsored by Roc Search.
