Officers carried out a high-visibility deployment today as part of Project Servator, a policing initiative aimed at deterring crime and providing reassurance to the public.
The operation involved a specialist facial recognition team with drone capability and support from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. During the activity, officers conducted a number of stop-and-searches and gathered intelligence to support ongoing policing efforts.
Project Servator deployments are deliberately unpredictable and can take place at any time or location. Police say the unpredictability is key to preventing criminal and terrorist activity.
Thames Valley Police Reading said: “Our communities are our eyes and ears. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and report it. Regardless of opinions about policing, everyone benefits from working together to prevent serious harm or a terrorist attack.”
The force reminds residents to call 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-urgent matters.
