Former Reading FC star Michael Olise, who spent some vital years in his development with the Royals, has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.
The 23-year-old had a tremendous first season in Germany with Bayern Munich where he netted 12 goals and claimed 15 assists, more than any other player in the Bundesliga. He also scored five times in the Champions League.
His impressive performances saw him named as the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season before he scored three times at the Club World Cup for Bayern.
Olise joined Reading’s academy in 2017 and it wasn’t long before he made his mark on the first-team.
He made his first-team debut in March 2019 and went on to play 73 games in all competitions for Reading before Premier League Crystal Palace activated his £8million release clause.
Olise continued his remarkable development during three seasons at Palace which prompted Bayern to splash out around €60m to sign one of the hottest prospects on the continent.
He is also making his mark on the international stage and has so far won eight international caps for France and has scored two goals.
