MOTORISTS are being warned of road closures on the M3 this weekend, affecting journey times.

The northbound carriageway is being shut to allow emergency works to take place.

The area affected is between junction 4 for Frimley and 3 for Lightwater.

Junction 3 is also where the A322 Bracknell Road joins the motorway, and is often used by Wokingham and Bracknell motorists looking to get to the M25, rather than taking the longer route via the A329m and M4.

National Highways is advising drivers to allow for extra time for their route.

The closure starts at 9pm on Friday, August 5, and will continue until 6am on Monday, August 8.

Crews will be working on the carriageway during this closure.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A30 London Road.

Drivers should either avoid this area or look to use alternative routes if possible.

However, road users will still be able to:

  • exit the M3 at junction 4 from both directions
  • join the M3 at junction 4 and travel southbound
  • join the M3 at junction 3 and travel both directions

To facilitate the installation of the closure at Junction 4 (Frimley), the northbound M3 will also be closed overnight between junction 5 (Hook) and junction 3 (Lightwater) from 9pm on Friday, August 5, to 6am on Saturday, August 6.

There will also be closure at the same times on Sunday to remove the traffic management.
