Reading FC boss Noel Hunt spoke ahead of the team’s trip to face Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday and admitted he still wants two or three new signings.

In what is being dubbed as the ‘Rob Couhig derby’, the Royals are seeking their first win of the season having picked up their first point of the season at Bolton on Wednesday night.

Sitting on just one point from four games, Wycombe have had an equally difficult start to their league campaign and have also drawn one and lost three.

Speaking to Royals TV, Hunt said: “We’re waiting for other clubs to make decisions on players, permanent and loans, so it’s not on us at the moment.

“We’re waiting for phone calls back. It’s not waiting for the final go ahead.

“It’s frustrating because we wanted someone in ahead of Saturday, but it looks like it’s not going to happen.

“We’ve got a week or just over left in the window so hopefully we can get two or three in.

“We’re probably not as strong as we want to be at the top end of the pitch in terms of bodies in the door to help with a little bit of experience. We understand that, we know that so we’re pushing hard to get things done and are pushing these clubs to make decisions and if not then we can move onto the next.

“We obviously wanted people in the door and done before the season started and before pre-season started, but it’s been a different change and shift here this summer and things have taken longer to get finalised than what people would have wanted, which puts a back log on things and sets us back a little bit. We knew it was going to be tough with the circumstances we’re in with rebuilding the whole squad. Most teams have settled teams whereas we’re aware that we’re rebuilding and restructuring the whole thing. Patience has to come into it a little bit and make sure it doesn’t boil over into frustration.”
