A hotel team and their manager have been put forward for a Pride of Reading Award for their commitment to supporting the Reading community and leading the hospitality sector to promote the town as a destination.
The Hilton Reading at Kennet Island has been nominated for the Hospitality Award, sponsored by REDA, Reading’s Economic & Destination Agency.
The nomination said: “The team at Hilton Reading actively nurture a positive and collaborative working environment, empowering each other to contribute their best.
“Together they strive to exceed expectations and provide exceptional hospitality experiences to all of our 6,000 monthly overnight guests, and all our guests attending events and dining at OXBO Bar, Kitchen and Café.”
“The team at Hilton Reading embrace the importance of community. As local people themselves, working with suppliers and organisations around Reading only reinforces everyone’s commitment to the community,” they added.
“Area general manager John McLaughlin’s partnership with Dingley’s Promise has become a legacy piece contributing to over £10,000 in funds, provisions and services.”
The nomination added: “John leads and chairs the collective voice of Reading hospitality and tourism sector for REDA, Reading Economy & Destination Agency to ensure members are brought up to date with the latest developments, discussing events that are happening in the town and work at ways at which the hospitality sector paired with the town’s aspirations can further promote Reading as a destination for both leisure and business tourism.”
The award was inspired and is in memory of food writer, journalist and Pride of Reading organiser Hilary Scott.
