Welcome back to Double-Barrelled brewery – Tilehurst’s favourite family-owned microbrewery! March is here and we’ve withstood rains, storms and everything else horrible and grim that February could throw at us – all with a fresh pint of beer in hand.

Luci and Mike, co-founders

For us, March begins a vast array of celebrations and events surrounding International Women’s Day. Kicking off on Friday 4th of March, we’ll be joining in the festivities at Vixen Festival at the Fox and Hounds in Caversham, celebrating women brewers, musicians, DJs, co-ordinated by their fab team of women…. (and isn’t great to have events in the diary again!)

On International Women’s Day itself, we’ll be taking part in International Women’s Collaborative Brew Day; hosting an open brew day at our brewery. Our assistant brewer Chelsea has developed a delicious new recipe, and all the ladies of our team will be getting stuck in from digging out the mash tun to seeing it sold onto pubs.

We will also be getting involved in a Meet the Brewer event at Reading’s iconic beer and cheese shop, The Grumpy Goat on the Thursday, 10th of March (tickets available online). So be it brewing, dancing the night away at the Fox or hosting beer tastings at the Goat; you’ll be sure to be seeing some of the women of Team DB out and about this month, pints in hand of course.

Be sure to follow us on our social media channels @doublebarrelledbrewery for more updates on the events, brew day and beers!

March is also another very exciting month for us at the brewery as it sees the opening of Blue Collar Corner: Reading’s new bar and street food Arena.

Double Barrelled celebrates with festive market

Review: Mates Rates brings stand-up to the Taproom with Ria Lina, Jake Steers, and President Obonjo

We were blown away to be approached by the team at Blue Collar to supply all of the beer for the venue. As two fiercely proud local businesses, this is a true Reading partnership – Made in the DING! Expect our freshest releases on tap alongside our year round favourites Ding Keller Lager and Parka Pale Ale – and of course the new Blue Collar Lager, brewed just for Blue Collar Corner, you won’t even find it at the Taproom.

The Blue Collar team have created such a great, unique space for Reading – and how great it is that this is something that is locally owned – it’s really something for the people to Reading to be proud of and we can’t wait for it to open.

Opening on Saturday 12th March on Hosier Street come down and party with us – pint in one hand and a tasty bite in the other!

And of course if you can’t make it down to the Taproom, or over to Blue Collar you can always get your beery fix online at doublebarrelled.co.uk with free local delivery on a Friday for all spends over £30 – cheers to that, and have a great month!
