ONE OF Reading’s regular live comedy events is back for its first monthly event of the year.
South Street Comedy Club has returned with a new roster of comedians, brought to the stage by Mates Rates.
This month sees host Carl Richard return as MC, joined by headline act Dane Baptiste.
Baptiste was the first Black British comedian to be nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, and was also nominated for a Chortle award the following year.
He has made appearances on Live at the Apollo (including as host), Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order.
The roster will be rounded out by Radu Isac and Blank Peng.
South Street Comedy Club takes place at South Street Arts Centre from 8pm on Saturday, January 27.
