A chicken restaurant is set to take over the Pizza Hut that lasted for just two months in Reading.
The Reading Gate Retail Park is a destination for fashion, home stores and dining, located near the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Pizza Hut opened last August but closed after just two months in October.
Now, the chicken chain Wingstop is gearing up to take over the restaurant.
The chain has a reputation for selling wings, boneless chicken, loaded fries, desserts and shakes to hungry diners.
Wingstop successfully opened in The Oracle in 2021, in a unit previously occupied by Chick-fil-A and Miami Burger.
Ahead of opening, the chain has applied to sell alcohol and stay open until 1am each night.
This has been submitted in a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.
The licence would enable Wingstop to sell beers from 10am onwards, as the company sells drinks from Camden Town Brewery from some of its locations.
Wingstop does not require a licence to sell food up to 11pm.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live. You can respond by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses is Wednesday, March 11.
Wingstop is due to open right next to chicken chain rival KFC.
Pizza Hut had a chequered history at the retail park. It was open for more than a decade before closing and being taken over by the Itsu Japanese eatery in 2021.
Itsu lasted for about four years before closing in March last year, with the re-established Pizza Hut closing down in October.
