WOODLEY UNITED put on a stunning display by hitting five past Caversham United to take three points.

United gave their most composed performance of the season that saw them move up the table after beating their local neighbours.

On a pitch that had held up well to the downpour leading up to kick off, Woodley opened the scoring after seven minutes when May Hamblin’s corner was cleared to Gemma Simms who shot into the top corner of Caversham’s goal.

The lead was doubled 16 minutes later when a cross from right back Charley Evans was spilled by home keeper Sam Thoreau into her own net.

The final goal of the half came a minute before half-time when centre back Simms was allowed to run with the ball in the Caversham half before firing past Thoreau.

Sticking to their game plan and keeping possession Woodley always looked the most likely to score in the second half.

The fourth goal came from the impressive Hamblin who found herself one on one with Thoreau following a Simms’ pass to slot pass the keeper on 67 minutes.

This was shortly followed by Hamblin’s lob over the advancing Thoreau evading a home defender under pressure from Lucy Routledge on the goal line and entering the net.

Subs: Charman, Scott, Dearling

Woodley United: Measham, Evans, Wilkins, Quinn, Simms, Surtees, M Haines, Sawyer, Benton (Routledge), Gooch (Stringer), Hamblin
