AS EASTER rolls around for another year, so too does one of Reading’s most spectacular charity drives.
The Berkshire Egg Run returns this weekend, when motorcyclists will ride across town to donate Easter eggs to charities to be distributed to children around Berkshire.
Riders bring eggs to the Rotary Club and Southcote Children’s Centre, with last year’s event seeing more than 1820 eggs transported on more than 452 vehicles.
Organised by the Thames Vale Vultures, the event sees riders from across the south of England join a slow procession from Tilehurst to Emmer Green.
It passes through Tilehurst towards Pangbourne, leading up through Whitchurch Hill to Cray’s Pond and into Sonning Common, before concluding at The Abbey Rugby Club with refreshments and the presentation of donations.
Those taking part are able to ride motorcycles, trikes, and quadbikes, and will be martialled to keep participants safe.
This is the 18th year of the event, apart from a break during covid lockdowns, which sees many of those taking part dressing up in Easter-themed fancy dress.
This year’s event will also see 6 lucky participants selected to win a limited edition commemorative mug.
Participants will meet at Stadium Way Industrial Estate from 11.30am on Good Friday, March 29th, to depart at 12.30pm.
