RESIDENTS in Reading are invited to enjoy an evening of live music in aid of two local charities.

The Mayor of Reading’s charity fundraising concert is set to return the Town Hall in May, raising funds for the Mayor’s chosen charities, Readifood and Utulivu Women’s Group.

The evening will feature the award-winning Reading Community Gospel Choir, which has been performing to audiences for nearly 20 years.

It will also welcome vocalist Julia Titus bringing blues and jazz as Ma Bessie, and musician and composer Pete Doyle, known for creating layered live soundscapes,

Pete won the Local Hero title in the Pride of Reading Awards 2025 for his community work, including the creation of Reading Rock Academy for young people.

The audience will also be treated to performances by the Ukrainian Kryla Choir and Reading-based poet Serena Vanderpuye.

“I am very excited about the amazing artists we have performing who will help to create a memorable night filled with music and hope in the magnificent setting of the Concert Hall in Reading Town Hall.

“As well as enjoying an amazing evening of live entertainment, everyone attending will help to support and raise awareness of two truly worthwhile causes which make such a difference to communities in Reading.”

A Celebration of Sound takes place at Reading Town Hall on Friday, May 1, at 7pm,
