BRIGHTER Futures for Children is relaunching a series of workshops helping parents alleviate stress off their young ones this academic year.
Entitled Helping your Child with Overcoming Fears and Worries, the aim of the programme is to teach parents cognitive behavioural strategies so they can use them with their child to overcome their anxiety.
Taking place on Microsoft Teams, the 2.5 hour-long sessions are a “whistle stop tour” of key principles for parents, and have a capacity for around four-10 participants each session.
Sessions are designed for parents whose children are aged between five-12, who display moderate or mild anxiety which is having an impact on the child’s life. They are not for children whose anxiety is severe or caused by trauma, PTSD, bereavement or sensory overload, and are not targeted at children with autism diagnoses or significant social communication difficulties.
Sessions run from 9.30am-noon on October 3, November 22, January 31, March 12, May 8, and June 24.
Those who are interested in taking part should email Wilma Williams, including: their name, email and phone number, as well as their child’s age and school. They must also state preferred dates.
