WOODLEY UNITED suffered a narrow loss to current league leaders Amersham Town who came from a goal down to take three points.

Hosting the side at the top of the table at the Rivermoor, it was Woodley who made a quick start out of the traps and scored the first goal of the game with just four minutes on the clock through Sid Gbla.

However, it didn’t take long for Amersham to respond and they had the game back on level terms just three minutes after Woodley’s opener.

The teams went in level at the break and the Kestrels pushed to try and regain their lead after the restart.

They came close on a few occasions, but it was the visitors who grasped their chance when they took the lead in the 70th minute.

Amersham had the opportunity to seal the points with a little over 10 minutes to go when they were awarded a penalty, but Alex ??? made a superb stop to keep his team in with a chance.

However, Amersham closed out the game to secure the points.

The defeat leaves Woodley in 14th position in the Combined Counties Division One table on 14 points from nine games.

Woodley also have several games in hand on all the sides around them in the table.

Jordan Blake’s team are back in action on Tuesday night up against Eversley & California.

The Boars have made a strong start to their league campaign and are in seventh place on 20 points from 10 games, also with games in hand to catch up on all the sides above them.
