25-year-old racing driver, Bobby Trundley from Wokingham, one of the world’s top autistic racing drivers, has started his 2025 season with two podium finishes.
Bobby is a driver for Team BRIT, the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers, and competed in round 1 of the Britcar Endurance Championship last weekend.
Bobby is pairing up with fellow autistic racing driver, Asha Silva from Northampton, driving a BMW M240i.
On Saturday 5th April the pair took on qualifying in the morning, finishing P2 in their class. They then prepared for 2 x 45 minute races.
Race 1 saw the pair dominate their class, finishing P1. In race 2, they were unlucky to sustain a puncture, pushing them down the grid, but still finishing in P3. Their points tally leaves them joint first in their class after round 1.
Bobby was diagnosed with severe autism as a child and found a love of motorsport through karting at age 10. He found it to have a profound impact on the way he manages the challenges of autism, and went on to become a 5 x national karting champion before joining Team BRIT in 2019.
Bobby said: “What an incredible race weekend for Asha and I.
“We managed to get a P1 in race one and a P3 in race 2 after a front left wheel issue.
“It’s been amazing to be back with the team, ready to take on a full season, and driving the 240i, which is an absolute joy to wrestle!
“Asha is a very strong driver and a brilliant team mate, so I’m look forward to seeing what the year brings!”
Bobby races again at Silverstone on Saturday 3rd May.
