A golfer from Wokingham has earned success by winning the Masters Competition at Theale Golf Club.

Each year Theale Golf Club holds its own Masters Competition. This is only open to members who have already won a board competition, during the current season, which means having their name printed on the board in the club house.

Graeme Ashmore stared playing golf 11 years ago at Blackstone Valley, before switching to Theale just four years ago. As well as hoping to be this year’s Masters winner, Graeme had a second target in mind for the day.

As happened many days recently, the weather wasn’t as bad as forecast which helped Graeme with his targets. Firstly the lowest net score of 71, meant that he won this year’s Theale Masters, comfortably three ahead of runner up Kian Duffy.

However, he was just as delighted when he learnt that his gross score of 82 also meant that he had also achieved his other target for the day. He had lowered his handicap for the first time to single figures, from 10 to 9.
