A SOUTH Reading community group is set to present its wide range of activities at a showcase event on Wednesday, October 18.
The Whitley Community Development Association is inviting residents to drop by its home on Northumberland Avenue to get a feel for what it has to offer.
Medical staff from the Royal Berkshire Hospital’s MEET PEET community outreach team will be on-hand to conduct free basic health checks, while a walking netball session will be taking place in the main hall.
Those looking for a more sedentary activity to get their teeth into can join in with the knit and natter group in the community cafe. There will also be PCSOs from Thames Valley Police available for visitors to speak to.
The Whitley Community Museum, run by local historian David Turner, will be showcasing some pictures and artefacts from days past. Its regular events give residents the opportunity to reminisce and catch up with friends some may not have even known they had.
The event will take place from 10am-1pm.
