ONE OF Reading’s regular drag showcases is set to return once again, highlighting queer talent from across the country and even internationally.

Sheer Obsession’s Suspenders is back on Saturday, August 5, bringing a whole host of hand-picked performers to The Rising Sun Arts Centre.

This time the line-up includes one of Reading’s most exciting drag artists, Duac, who brings a refreshing, surprising performance to their shows, often marrying high-concept premises with a down-to-Earth charm and artistic sensibilities.

Birmingham-based Philli Mi Up, whose act plays on gender norms and aims to educate through poetry and performance, is also on the bill.

Philli is something of a regular in Reading, including having performed at the inaugural Trans Pride party last year.

Norwich’s Dandy Darling is on the bill, bringing their out-of-this-world perspective which marries an eye for point-perfect costuming and camp comedy.

Dandy is fresh from being a finalist at Man Up 2023 and appearances in Top of the Slops’ second season.

The show also includes Sam Moanella, a drag sensation hailing from Norwich mixing camp cabaret and grotesque elements, all dressed up with outlandish and detailed costume work.

Pastor Will. E is set to perform, bringing their bedazzled, besuited brand of drag divinity to the stage.

Rounding out the roster is St. Patrick Star, the 80’s drenched international drag sensation, following performances in Mexico, the US, and London.

Host Sheer Obsession will also be performing with their usual blend of high-drama, camp comedy, and preposterous premises.

Sheer Obsession’s Suspenders is taking place at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, Silver Street, from 7pm on Saturday, August 5.

Tickets to the event are available on a sliding scale of prices, with general admission tickets at £10, and options for those with low income and those who wish to make extra donations.
