Enrych Berkshire is a Registered Charity that provides support to people with a disability, helping them get access to leisure, social and learning activities.
Currently, they are seeking a volunteer to help a gentleman who is visually impaired with pain in his joints. He would love to have somebody to go out socially with to enable him to visit places, theatres, coffee shops, and more.
He uses a white stick and does not have a guide dog.
While the main priority is to help them get out and help them socially, this gentleman also enjoys music and would love the opportunity to learn to play the guitar.
Macmillan helps everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, by providing physical, financial and emotional support.
Alongside millions of supporters, professionals, volunteers and campaigners, they give everything they’ve got to support people living with cancer.
People living with cancer tell Macmillan they need emotional support to feel less isolated and lonely and sometimes need some help with practical tasks that they are temporarily having trouble with, so they are seeking more volunteers to join them as a Buddy to support them.
They are looking for patient, flexible and reliable volunteers who are good listeners and can demonstrate empathy and understanding, whilst also maintaining boundaries.
Reading Blind Aid Society was formed in 1883 and then changed to Reading Association for the Blind in 1926 and has supported the sight-impaired people of Reading ever since.
They want volunteers to join as a Rambling Guide. You will walk alongside RAB members, assisting them throughout the walk or offering general support. No prior knowledge of sight loss is required, as their existing Guiders and Walkers will provide guidance. Additionally, we can arrange for you to take the Level 1 Sighted Guide qualification, further enhancing your skills.
What matters most is enthusiasm and a friendly personality. Transport to and from the RAB hall in the minibus can be arranged free of charge.
This all takes place on Wednesdays.
