THE UNIVERSITY of Reading has taken its place among the world’s top universities for the second year in a row.
It follows the announcement of the QS World University Rankings for 2025, which rank institutions on quality of education, employability, and sustainability.
Last year the university jumped to 189th in the overall league tables, entering the top 200, and this year it has continued to climb, reaching 172nd.
It is ranked 25th in the UK, ahead of York, Cardiff, Sussex, and Surrey, and joint 39th in Europe.
It has also reached 61st in sustainability, jumping more than 100 places since 2023.
The university was credited with strong scores for its research network, international faculty and students, sustainability, and global engagement.
It was also commended for gains in its reputation in providing candidates for employers.
The ranking means that it holds its standing among the top 12% of universities worldwide.
