GREAT Western Railway has warned of cancellations after a line closure between Reading and Paddington Station.

The rail operator has announced that electricity has been switched off due to “safety reasons” between the stations, leading to line closures and subsequent delays.

Disruption is expected until around 2pm today, Wednesday, March 27.

GWR has explained that overhead wires between Slough and London Paddington experienced “momentary” issues, leading to a failure to re-energise a section of track between Paddington and Hayes.

As a result, there is a blocked line, meaning Didcot Parkway to London Paddington services will operate between Didcot Parkway and Reading only.

Customers travelling to or from Cholsey, Goring & Streatley, Pangbourne, and Tilehurst could be required to change trains at Reading if travelling to or from Paddington.
