The Masters competition of Theale Golf club is only open to those members who have won during the season a Board competition, that is to say, one that puts your name on one of the Boards that surround the internal walls of the club pavilion.
In 2019 Peter George decided that he had had enough of playing football and decided to try his hand at golf. He decided in 2020 to join Theale Golf Club, and has been glad that he did, as he has received many warm greetings.
Despite having won one of this seasons Board Competitions, Peter didn’t fancy his chances of success in the Masters, and after nine holes he had no reason to change that feeling, having suffered two double bogies.
With the course in good order, especially on the greens, despite recent rain, Peter swept past his two closest contenders, Chris Clack on 72, and Lee Barrett on 71, with what he called a magical second nine to finish with 70. No bad for someone who has only been playing the game for four years. By Dick Sawdon Smith
