READING FC supporter Pippa Rouse was at an away match in Luton last year when she saw Luton Town fan David Norman crash into another car after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Her quick actions, which saved his life, have lead to a nomination for the Local Hero Award, sponsored by Green Park.
The award celebrates someone who, through a special act of kindness or bravery, has made a positive difference to their community.
As the incident unfolded, Pippa ran over to David’s car and realised that he was not breathing, said her nominator.
Reaching over and undoing his seat belt, she pulled him on to the road and began CPR.
Emergency services quickly arrived and took over, delivering shocks to re-start his heart.
Her nominator added: “Pippa headed home with her dad and fiancé, fearing the worst, before receiving the best possible social media message from a paramedic who had relieved her.” David had survived.
“There is no doubt that Pippa saved a rival club’s football fan which demonstrates that life-saving rises above club loyalties,” said her nominator.
“It would have been easy for Pippa to have just continued her journey home but she reacted in the crisis whilst others just walked on by.
“I feel that Pippa deserves this award for her outstanding life-saving actions,” he added.
David Norman made a remarkable recovery and the pair were re-united at the reverse fixture, sharing a heartfelt hug.
