With summer now in full swing and National Sunflower Day approaching on August 2nd, Thames Hospice has announced its annual Sunflower Walk, taking place on 14 September 2025.
This much-loved event offers the community an opportunity to celebrate life, remember loved ones, and support vital local hospice care.
Sunflowers, with their unwavering gaze towards the sun, beautifully represent hope, resilience, and the positive spirit that underpins hospice care.
The Sunflower Walk encourages individuals, families, and groups to draw inspiration from these powerful flowers by taking part in the fundraiser, whether it’s a gentle stroll in nature or a more ambitious trek.
“The Sunflower Walk is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a chance for our community to come together, reflect, and share in the powerful message of hope that sunflowers embody,” said Emma Andrews, Events Fundraiser. “Every step taken and every penny raised at the Sunflower Walk ensures we can continue to provide compassionate care and support to families like Ollie’s.”
In 2023, Thames Hospice cared for Ollie’s dad, David. Ollie shares his experience: “My dad was everything to us and without the support of Thames Hospice we wouldn’t be where we are today. There are no words big enough to describe what Thames Hospice gave us.”
Ollie and his family are taking part for the second time and encourage others to sign up. “Honestly, if you’re thinking about signing up for the Sunflower Walk, just do it, it’s such a great atmosphere! You’ll feel amazing knowing you’ve helped keep the Hospice running, and that’s what truly matters.”
Participants are encouraged to register online and set their own goals.
