A SUSPECTED double stabbing took place at a Reading pub late on Saturday night, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The incident happened around 11.34pm at The Sportsman pub at the junction of Shinfield Road and Elm Road.
The victims were both in their 20s. They were rushed to hospital where they remain in a stable position.
Thames Valley Police has arrested six men, were aged 18, 20, 21, 22, and two 23-year-olds, all from Reading. They have been released on bail.
As part of their investigation, the force enacted its Section 60 powers in an area around the Whitley and Shinfield borders until Monday, October 31.
It covered: Shinfield Road, Pepper Lane, Elm Road, Elm Lane, Rushey Way, footpath between Rushey Way and Valentine Close, Valentine Close, Halls Lane, Shinfield Road, Whitley Wood Road, Hartland Road, Northumberland Avenue and Cressingham Road.
Announcing it, Inspector Sarah-Jayne Beedal, who is based at Reading police station, said: “We have authorised a Section 60 in order to reduce the chance of further disorder following this serious incident in Whitley.
“The Section 60 allows greater powers to Stop and Search and members of the public will see an increased police presence.”
On Sunday, senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector James Humphries, said: “We are continuing our investigation following this incident in which two men have received serious injuries.
“We have made six arrests in connection and we are carrying out extensive enquiries.”
He urged anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to review it and share with officers if it showed anything that could be relevant.
And on Monday evening, the force made an appeal for a specific witness to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden, of Force CID based in Reading, said: “We continue to investigate this incident.
“We are appealing for a specific witness to come forward who we believe was walking along Cedar Road at 10.44pm on Friday night, towards the Sportsman pub.
“She is white, slim build, with dark hair worn up, wearing a long black coat, a black cropped top, grey joggers/trousers and white trainers or shoes.
“We believe this person may have witness information and we would ask them to come forward as a potential witness by calling 101, quoting reference 43220486197.
“We would also ask anyone else who has information that has not yet come forward to please also get in touch.
