A BOROUGH care home enjoyed a special St Patrick’s Day, thanks to young dancers from Reading and Didcot based The O’Gara school of dancing.
Shinfield View, part of the Berkley Care Group, brought residents and loved ones together for an afternoon of traditional Irish dancing and Irish cuisine to celebrate the holiday.
The home was decorated with St. Patrick’s Day-themed bunting, and festivities began with Irish tunes enjoyed over coffee.
Lunch of traditional Irish boiled bacon, cabbage and buttery mash was followed by Guinness and baby Guinness shots.

And to top off the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, around 25 residents and family members were treated to a performance given by The O’Gara school of Irish dancers.
Events manager at Shinfield View Care Home Laura McSoley said: “The most memorable part of the day was watching the dancers.
“Seeing such young children, as little as the age of 4, get up to perform for such a big crowd, was really impressive.
“The music and dance really bought the essence of St. Patrick’s Day.

“The whole crowd was clapping the whole way through the performance.”
