THAMES Valley Police has announced that a street in central Reading has been closed while emergency services attend an incident.

Russell Street is set to be closed for “some time”, Thames Valley Police has said, with traffic blocked in both directions.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, with more updates due when the road reopens.

Reading Buses has confirmed that diversions are in place for for Jet Black 1, Lime 2, Yellow 26, and Royal Blue 33 routes.

A post to social media by Thames Valley Police this morning (October 1) explained: “Russell Street is currently closed in both directions.

“It is likely to remain closed for some time.
