A restaurant unit in Reading town centre that has been closed for seven years is set to be turned into a bar and eatery.
The Dolce Vita Italian restaurant occupied the King’s Walk mall in the town centre for years before closing in June 2018.
The unit in the mall, now known as ‘The Village’, has been unoccupied since then.
But now, a business called Take Your Time is set to take over the restaurant and bring it back to use.
The business does not appear to have any digital footprint yet.
The unit benefits from a balcony dining area with views over the River Kennet and The Oracle Riverside.
Ahead of occupation, the company has applied to sell alcohol from 11am to 11pm each day.
This has been submitted in a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live.
You can respond to it by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses is Thursday, August 7.
There was previously a plan for a shisha bar called ‘The Drop’ to occupy the restaurant unit in April 2020.
However, it is understood that these plans were stalled and ultimately aborted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The unit occupies space above the High Spirits Cocktail Company, which is currently available for lease for £3,250 per month.
The space that bar occupies was previously run by the Caffeine & Cocktails and Mix Cocktail Bar businesses.
