READING came together to mark Remembrance Sunday on November 9, joining the rest of the country in honouring those who gave their lives in conflict.

The ceremony was attended by Mr Andrew Try, Lord Lieutenant of The Royal County of Berkshire; The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Alice Mpofu-Coles; and The Bishop of Reading, Rt Revd Mary Gregory.

After the church service, a march through the town centre was led by The Waterloo Band and Bugles of the 7 Rifles, leaving Reading Minster at around 10.25am and making its way down to the Forbury Gardens.

The Mayor of Reading gave a reading of For the Fallen followed by a two-minute silence, signalled by The Last Post, and a reading of the Kohima Epitaph.

Wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph by The lord Lieutenant, High Sheriff of Berkshire; the Mayor of Reading; Mary Gregory, the Bishop of Reading; the leader of Reading Borough Council, Liz Terry; OC HQ Company of 7th Rifles, and MPs.

The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem and The Blessing, given by Bishop of Reading, Mary Gregory.
