A TWO-CHOIRS sell-out concert led by the Lower Earley- based Reading Male Voice Choir raised more than £2,000 for good causes on Saturday.
Megavissy Male Choir, one of Cornwall’s most acclaimed choirs, joined the Reading singers for the event.
Clive Waterman, musical director of the Reading choir said: “It was a joy to sing with the Megavissy choir again.”
This was a return trip for the visiting group following the Reading choir’s trip to Cornwall in April.
The Cornishmen sing all over the south West and has visited the USA and Canada, the Continent and Cyprus.
The Cornish choir was formed in 1974, three years after Reading Male Voice choir, and held its first meeting in a boatyard.
Every August, the group sings to holidaymakers on the Mevgavissy quayside.
Both choirs sang to a packed audience in St. Edmund Campion church, Maidenhead in the two and a half hour concert.
The £2,100 they raised will be shared by the Alexander Devine children’s hospice, the Maidenhead St. Vincent de Paul Society, and St Edmond Campion Roman Catholic Church to help fund repairs and renovations.
