Reading FC’s record of achieving 106 points in a Championship campaign will remain intact after Fulham’s loss at West Bromwich Albion.
The Royals broke the points total in the club’s memorable season in 2005/06 that saw them achieve promotion to the top flight for the first time in the club’s history.
Under manager Steve Coppell, the Royals lost just two games all season in the entire season as they collated a huge points total to be crowned as league champions.
Current league leaders Fulham are aiming for a quick return to the Premier League having been relegated last season.
They have a big lead at the top with an 11 point gap over second placed AFC Bournemouth.
However, after suffering a 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night, the Cottagers can now only achieve a maximum of 104 points for the season.
Marco Silva’s team have now lost six league matches this season, but still look to be in a commanding position to win the Championship title with nine matches left to play.
Fulham have enjoyed a free scoring season and have hit 90 goals in just 37 matches.
Their main goalscorer Aleksander Mitrovic has already achieved a record number of goals in a Championship season by scoring 35 goals.
The Royals netted 99 goals in their promotion winning season in 2005/06.
