The Reading FC Women’s squad traded football boots for Reformer machines and Pilates mats during a special training session at Power of Pilates in Lower Earley.
Led by studio owner Claire Roberts, the team experienced how Reformer Pilates – a form of Pilates using spring-loaded resistance machines – can help build strength, improve mobility, and prevent injuries. Their new manager Ed Jackson-Norris and coaching staff also joined in, making it a full-team workout.
“Reformer Pilates is fantastic for athletes because it strengthens the core, improves balance, and supports injury prevention,” said Claire.
“The players really got stuck in, and it was brilliant to see their competitive spirit shine through in a completely different setting.”
The session combined Mat and Reformer exercises, giving the squad a unique full-body challenge to complement their on-pitch training.
Power of Pilates, recently voted Best Studio in Berkshire, runs a wide timetable of classes for the local community and visiting athletes.
