Reading FC’s long takeover process is finally entering the ‘final stages’ as a deal nears, according to national reports.
The Telegraph have reported that former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig is close to completing a deal to buy the Royals.
Couhig, who tried to purchase Reading’s Bearwood Park training ground just a few months back, resigned as Wycombe chairman last month following a four year spell.
Dai Yongge has had Reading up for sale for more than 10 months with a takeover process taking an exceptionally long time to be completed despite the club agreeing exclusivity with an unnamed party in May.
The Telegraph have said that ‘representatives from Couhig’s party were at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Monday with the transaction now in the final stages.’
The report added that sources are ‘cautiously predicting’ that a sale could be completed within the next two weeks.
The Royals fans and Couhig already have a fractious relationship following protests that were carried out by supporters outside Adams Park to contest the potential sale of Bearwood to Wycombe.
However, that deal quickly fell apart after it was revealed by Wokingham Borough Council that a planning issue would only allow Reading Fc to use the training base.
