READING FC has confirmed that Amadou Mbengue has signed a new contract with the club.
The defender has signed a ?two year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025.
The 21-year-old defender initially signed on a short term deal with the club last summer with a view to a further extension.
After playing an important role in the side in the first-half of the campaign, the Royals opted to continue his stay at the club with a view of keeping him at the club.
Following Reading’s relegation to League One the club offered the Senegal U23s player a two year contract which has now been signed.
Mbengue becomes the third signing under new boss Ruben Selles after both Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith joined on free transfers last week.
Mbengue made a total of 28 appearances in all competitions last season and showed great promise being deployed as both a centre-back in a back three and also as a wing-back.
He also found the net twice for the Royals last season. He scored the winner in Reading’s 1-0 triumph over Coventry City at home in October in the Championship.
Mbengue was also on the scoresheet in Reading’s 3-1 FA Cup defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
