Reading FC manager Noel Hunt gave an update on the injured players in his squad after his side battled to gain a point against Stockport County.

The Royals fell behind in the first-half but managed to salvage a draw after striker Jack Marriott made it four goals in four starts for the club as he continued his spectacular start to his Reading career since signing on a three-year deal from Wrexham.

Reading are dealing with multiple injury issues, including some key players in defence.

Centre-back Paudie O’Connor has yet to make his competitive debut for the club since signing on a free transfer from Lincoln City in the summer.

The Irish defender has been suffering with a calf injury which staff originally expected would keep him out of action for three to four weeks, and although Hunt said that he has returned to light training and hopes he is not too far away from being able to play, he is yet to feature in a matchday squad this season.

Andy Yiadom, previously club captain before Lewis Wing was chosen as the new skipper, has also yet to feature in this campaign.

Yiadom’s Reading career has been plagued by injury in the past few seasons, particularly last year where he managed just 14 League One appearances.

Hunt updated that Yiadom is still building his fitness ahead of a return to action, but did not give a date of an expected return.

Midfielder Liam Fraser missed out on the trip to Stockport after he picked up a knock, but is not expected to be out for any extended period.

Andre Garcia is currently expected to be out for around 3-4 weeks, while defender Derrick Williams will miss 4-5 weeks with a hamstring issue.
