Reading FC goalkeeper Joel Pereira will be out of action for the next few weeks, manager Ruben Selles has confirmed.
The Royals boss confirmed that the shot stopper has twisted his ankle which means he is likely to be out for a number of weeks with the club to assess the injury with a scan this week.
Pereira has started all three League One matches this season after winning the number one spot in the side towards the end of the last campaign.
Back-up goalkeeper David Button had missed the start of the season with injury but is now back in training and available for selection.
Meanwhile, Coniah Boyce-Clarke was recalled early from international duty with Jamaica due to Pereria’s injury.
In more positive news on the injury front, Harvey Knibbs is set to be in contention for a return to action after missing the last four weeks.with an injury.
The Royals currently sit in 8th position in the League One table and host Leyton Orient on Saturday.
Orient have had a tricky start to the season and are currently the only side in the division yet to pick up a point.
Orient opened their season with a 1-0 loss to CHalrton, followed by a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City before they lost 3-0 at Shrewsbury.
Despite their troubles in the league, they have won twice in the EFL Cup. They got past Newport County in the first-round before getting the better of Championship side Millwall away from home.
Richie Wellens’ side also lost to Arsenal U21s in the EFL Trophy in their final game before the international break.
