Reading FC goalkeeper Luke Southwood has joined Cheltenham Town on a one-year loan deal.
The academy graduate made his way into the number one spot last season under Veljko Paunovic after Rafael Cabral lost his place.
He played 21 times in the Championship last campaign but was part of a defence that was culpable for condeding far too many goals as the Royals ended with the joint worst defensive record in the division.
Southwood eventually lost his spot in the team after Karl Hein was brought in on loan from Arsenal and after he was injured, Reading signed Orjan Nyland who finished the season in goal.
It appears that Southwood is not part of Paul Ince’s plans for this season after Reading signed Joe Lumley on a season long loan deal from Middlesbrough and also captured goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis on a free transfer after he left Sutton United.
Cheltenham Town finished in 15th place in League One last season and are now looking ahead to their new campaign where they will host Peterborough United on Saturday, July 30 on the opening day of the season.
