Reading FC coach James Oliver-Pearce was left ‘frustrated’ after the Royals failed to take their chances in their draw at Lincoln City.
Royals manager Ruben Selles was shown a red card during the second-half, which meant he was not able to stay on the touchline or give his thoughts in the post match press conference.
In his place was first-team coach Oliver-Pearce. He said: “It’s a game we’re frustrated by because we had the situations to win the game. Their goal came from a slow start, that’s something we need to address and be better at.
“We felt the reaction in the first half was really goo.d w had a lot of possession and territory and created a lot of chances.
“We need to connect with crosses in the final third that are getting that far more regularly and it’s about finding the final touch or pass.
“The build up was good. Jeriel (Dorsett) found Harvey (Knibbs) for the run and since we’ve gone to a different system we’ve looked at how to access the wide areas better.”
The Royals coach is keen for his side to keep pushing on to try and escape the relegation zone.
He continued: “We need to build momentum. The victories against Wycombe and Carlisle helped with that.
“The Oxford game was a good first-half. We handled the ball well today for 65-70 minutes and then it became too open.
“We feel like we’ve got momentum and are starting to take games to teams a bit more. We need to turn them into victories.
“We need to make sure we keep pushing and giving the fans something to sing about.
Speaking on Selles red card, Oliver-Pearce said: “It was an impulsive reaction. They had a player running to take a quick throw and he tried to delay the restart.
He apologised to the dressing room, it’s the first thing he did when he walked in. He doesn’t want to let the team down and wants to be out there to support them and the staff.”
