Reading FC have been celebrating the return of ‘one of their own’ after midfielder Andy Rinomhota signed for the Royals as he enters a second spell.
Three years after departing to join Cardiff City, Rinomhota has now made his return to Berkshire having been released by the Bluebirds in the summer, despite winning their Player of the Season Award last campaign.
The 28-year-old joins Leam Richardson’s squad on a deal until the end of the season having completed a successful trial period.
Rinomhota had been linked with making a move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, but instead opted to return to Reading where he graduated through the academy.
Fans reacted overwhelmingly positively on social media following his return.
One fan said: “Welcome home Rino, it’s great to have you back. Well done @RCouhig @ToddTrosclair @joe_jacobson for getting this done and giving Leam a chance. We need more in January.”

Another fan said: “Amazing signing. Should never have left, let’s hope he picks up where he finished. Great job @robcouhig @joe_jacobson.”
Meanwhile, a Cardiff fan said: “Best of luck Andy. I was hoping that we’d offer you a new deal, especially after you won players player of the year last season playing out of position at right back “
