Reading FC defender Paudie O’Connor is set to miss two to three weeks of action with a calf injury.
The Royals signed the centre-back and former Lincoln City captain O’Connor on a free transfer in the summer, but he has yet to make his competitive debut.
Having signed a four-year deal at Reading, O’Connor missed out on a reunion against his former club on the opening day of the League One season as the Royals were defeated 2-0 at Lincoln.
The 28-year-old will miss out on Reading’s first home game of the season against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, who is now likely to miss the remainder of August’s fixtures.
Reading manager Noel Hunt confirmed that O’Connor is part of the new leadership group at the club after Lewis Wing was named as new club captain and goalkeeper Joel Pereira as vice captain.
Reading host Huddersfield on Saturday at the Select Car Leasing Stadium (12.30pm kick-off).
