Reading FC boss Noel Hunt has given a fitness update on his squad ahead of their League One encounter with Mansfield Town.

The Royals are looking to kickstart their season after an underwhelming start to the campaign which sees them in 19th place after nine matches.

Hunt gave an update on his injured players, including Paudie O’Connor, Derrick Williams Mamadi Camara

Speaking to Royals TV, Hunt said: “Paudie is doing great, he’s back out on the grass. We all want to see him in the team. Without even playing for us we know he’s a key figure for the team and he’s gone through the last couple of days of contact in training and we will get him through this week and push him through the ranks in terms of that.

“But we have to remind ourselves that he hasn’t played in two months and one full week of training is too soon for him and the physios are onto me about that. But this week will benefit him well and then we will see where we go with him.

“Derrick (Williams) is back on the grass and is back running. We thought it would be maybe four to six weeks but it looks like he’s moving a bit quicker than that.

“Mamadi (Camara) has come back and his ankle is looking really well. We thought it would be more late October, but hopefully we get him back on the grass in the next week or so.”

Reading’s opponents are in 12th position in the League One table with four wins, two draws and four defeats.
