READING FOOTBALL CLUB has been issued with a winding up petition from HMRC as the club continues to battle financial issues.
The Royals have been dealt with several punishments from the EFL across the previous two seasons, including two separate six point penalties for breaching profit and sustainability rules.
After the second points deduction, they were relegated from the Championship and will play in League One next season
The club are currently on the EFL Embargo Service for failing to pay players on time on three separate occasions last season.

A new charge of a missed payment to HMRC was added last week and the club has until Thursday, June 29 to respond. The winding up petition was issued on June 20.
With growing frustrations at the way the club is being operated, several fan groups have collaborated to form the pressure group ‘Sell Before We Dai’.
The group is calling for owner Mr Dai Yongge to sell the club and are planning a series of protests in the coming weeks and months.
Reading Football Club has been contacted for comment.
